As Ed Sheeran would say, I'm gonna build a lego house...

...or should I say hospital.

It was Matilda's birthday recently, and for her birthday she got some really fab Lego Friends sets.  So the other day, I was helping her put together her kits when she asked if I could build a hospital for her.  Ah ha, a challenge! I thought, and set to work trying to figure out how to construct a lego hospital...

Oh my goodness, I got so into it!  I hadn't played with lego for years, but it all came flooding back.  Before I knew it, a couple of hours had passed with Matilda and I sitting together happily playing with our respective lego, and I was the proud creator of a rather elaborate lego hospital!

I had so much fun!  Oh, and more than a week later the hospital is still sitting on the floor in the middle of the front room because I won't let anyone clear it away!

Me: A-Z Workshop - Letter J

I've been following Michelle Batton's Me: A-Z Workshop since it started over at Funky Playground Designs late last year.

Sadly, Michelle has now left FDP, but she is still running the workshop through her blog.  This week the prompt was for the letter J - my least favourite letter in the whole world.  I know it is irrational, but I developed a dislike for the letter after many a game of Scrabble was scuppered by me being left with this beast of a letter.

So when I saw that I had to try and create a layout about myself using the letter J my heart sunk.  What on earth was I going to scrap about?  Then it hit me.  I should scrap about my dislike of the letter J.

So here it is, my "I hate the letter J" layout:

New Facebook Page

Ooh, I'm really starting to get into this social networking lark and have created a new Facebook Page to compliment my Blog posts and the work I am doing as a CT member for Funky Playground Designs

I'm having lots of fun playing with the page settings, and working out what I'm going to have on there (I hope in the future to start being able to offer digital scrapbooking freebies designed by yours truly!).  So if you fancy giving my page a like, pop on over to Capricious Kate's Facebook Page.

Exciting News!

Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow!  I'm so excited!  My application to join the Funky Playground Designs CT team has been accepted.  So I am now an official Sandbox Crew Member.  Woo hoo!

I can't wait to get stuck in, and have already made a few layouts - but I can't show you them yet...ooh the anticipation!

And that's not all, I'm also going to be CTing for another fabulous designer once her new store is up and running.  Yippee!

I am in my element!

Crafting with Matilda - Part 2

So, after completing the "Sweet Little Canvas" (see January post), the next craft kit that Matilda wanted to do was a Fairy Castle Canvas from the Early Learning Centre.

The kit contained a white canvas about A4 in size with a line drawing of the castle etc. pre-printed on it, a set of paints, and some wool, glitter and star embellishments to add at the end.

Matilda really enjoyed painting the canvas.  The paints that were provided with the kit were nice colours and went on nicely, but we also ended up using some of Matilda's other paints too.  Then, when the paint was dry the real fun started.  Using the embellishments and glitter provided, plus extra glitter that she already had, Matilda turned the canvas into a very pretty and magical picture which she was justly proud of.

I would definitely recommend this simple but effective kit to parents of similarly creative children.

Digital Scrapbooking

I've been so engrossed in physical crafting since Christmas that I've not been doing much in the way of digital scrapping, but last week I got my mojo back and completed a couple of layouts:

Created using "Wrapped in Ribbons" by North Meets South Studios
and FPD January challenge template by Amber Shaw.

Created using "Graham Cracker" by GirlBoyGirl Designs and
"Puddle Jumpers" template by Trixie Scraps Designs.
Created using "Hodge Podge" by Rosey Toes Designs and
"Grasshopper Pie" template by Little Green Frog Designs
.

I'm really pleased with how they turned out - especially as the Brighton Pier and Colchester Zoo layouts had been languishing in my unfinished layouts folder since Christmas!

At present my digital scrapping home is Funky Playground Designs.  This is where my most up to date gallery is kept, and it is also the place where I end up spending too much money on a regular basis!  I just can't help myself, there are so many amazing designers there, and their kits are fantastic.
